BioGRAPHY

Ava Camaj is a Cincinnati-based singer-songwriter, who is known for her raw, emotive storytelling, and soaring voice. Though known for writing ballads, she is extremely well-versed in multiple genres of music, including: Country, Pop, Rock, and Soul/R&B. She is also exceptionally proficient in Logic Pro, which she uses for producing her own music, and ProTools, which she uses for mixing her songs. She is commonly compared to and influenced by: Adele, Amy Winehouse, Beyonce, and Rihanna. Though, her largest musical influences lie with Queen, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Tina Turner, and Whitney Houston. Within her music, she commonly explores the theme of love, and how it is ever-present in every aspect of our lives. She recognizes the human desire to love and be loved, and traces that through every stream of the human experience.

As she goes on this journey to find the source of love, she finds herself nowhere else but at the foot of the Cross. Growing up Catholic, she made it her impetus to find out who Jesus Christ truly was. Themes of Christianity are woven within her lyrics, melodies, and harmonies. Though not explicitly a “Christian Music Artist”, she consistently credits her source of inspiration to be Jesus Christ and her ever-growing relationship with him.

Ava Camaj grew up taking dance lessons and piano lessons. Though she always loved music, especially singing, she was afraid to fully commit herself to the art – until her freshman year of high school, where on a retreat she had an experience that changed her life. Realizing the gifts of singing, writing, and playing the piano that she was given, she made it her mission to use those to bring beauty and healing to a world that is incredibly broken. She then taught herself to play guitar in the summer of 2020, and started singing in Performance Band and House Band at the Farmington School of Rock. She started to take serious vocal lessons in 2022, with the incredible dramatic soprano, Leslie Mason. As Ava’s biggest mentor, her unending belief and encouragement in her songwriting, singing, and instrumental abilities,  got Ava to take a leap and study Music Production at the College – Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, where she is currently at the end of her junior year.

Since being at college, Ava has written countless songs, one of them being “Make Me Whole”. This song, written at the end of her sophomore year (2025), was entered into the BIC Pen Inkubator competition. She was chosen as one of four finalists, flown to New York City, and got to perform her song in front of Charlie Puth, and guest judge, Latoya Lee. She was then chosen as the grand prize winner, as she won $10,000 and a mentorship with Charlie Puth, with whom she maintains a solid, professional relationship. From this opportunity, she received a massive scholarship to attend a songwriting residency in October 2025, with Grammy-award winning orchestrator, arranger, songwriter, and jazz violinist/fiddler, Jeremy Kittel. The residency took place at “The Atlantic Center of the Arts”, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where she met countless talented artists and musicians, and composed two more pieces, “Aurora” and “Naturally”. She had multiple performance opportunities while down there, and is projected to return in October of 2026 for more performances. She could not be more thrilled.
